The Grumman F4F Wildcat was an American embarked fighter of the Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation that operated mainly in the Pacific.
The Wildcat was a robust, maneuverable and reliable aircraft capable of withstanding heavy enemy fire. Its armor, self-sealing fuel tanks, and the skill of its pilots made it an essential pillar until the arrival of the F6F Hellcat. It was present in any important action in the Pacific until 1943 when it began to be replaced by more modern models.
