Uruk-Hai

Hand-built fantasy diorama with the figures of two fleeing orcs with hobbits in their arms.

The scene depicts the moment in the Lord of the Rings movie when the two brave hobbits (Merry and Pippin) are captured by Saruman’s Uruk-Hai scouts at Amon Hen.

Saruman learned Sauron’s methods and used them to build his own army. It is not revealed by what craft he made these creatures, although the birthing pits discovered in the Fourth Age beneath Isengard suggest that Saruman used minerals and other deposits from the caverns.

«We are the fighting Uruk-hai! We slew the great warrior. We took the prisoners. We are the servants of Saruman the Wise, the White Hand: the Hand that gives us man’s-flesh to eat».

The miniatures are from the old Games Workshop metal range in 28 mm, everything else in the scene has been hand sculpted, including the trees. The final size of the vignette is 9x6x20cm.
