Gandalf the White

Gandalf the White hurries Shadowfax to reach the survivors of Osgiliath before it’s too late for them.

Shadowfax is one of the mearas, the lords of the horses, who were tamed and ridden exclusively by the kings of Rohan. After Gandalf freed King Théoden from Saruman’s spell, Saruman offered him Shadowfax as a gift as a gesture of gratitude.
In this scene Gandalf rides to Osgiliath to the rescue of Faramir and his men after the unsuccessful attempt to retake the city from the forces of Mordor.
