The Mustang was designed in 1940 by North American Aviation and its P-51D version was the most numerous variant.
The P-51D Mustang “Cripes A’Mighty 3rd” was an iconic World War II aircraft, famous for being the highest-scoring Mustang, with 18.5 enemy aircraft and 9 ground units destroyed.
Notable for its role in escorting bombers, it became a legendary war machine after its loss in April 1945.
