Focke Wulf FW 190 A4 “Nowotny”
Model: Fw 190 A-4, 1. JG 54
Pilot: Walter Nowotny
Winter 1942-1943
The Focke-Wulf Fw-190 is a German, single-engine, all-metal fighter aircraft with an enclosed cockpit and a low-wing configuration from World War II. The Fw 190 A-4 was an updated version of the German single-engine fighter, the FW 190.
Production of the Fw 190 A-4 began in July of 1942 and continued until March 1943. A tropical version was also created with filters that enabled the aircraft to operate in the Mediterranean.
Walter “Novi” Nowotny was an Austro-German fighter ace with 258 confirmed victories in 442 combat missions. He was the first fighter ace to reach the 250-victory mark. He is considered by many to be the greatest fighter pilot in history, given his high ratio of victories to combat missions.
